Domain squatters are not the problem they once were. I remember hearing Phill Torrone from Make magazine saying that when they were choosing the title for their publication, they looked and found that the obvious domain was already taken. However they were savvy enough to realize that it was more important to have a# 1 Google rating than to have the domain name, and so that’ s what they went after (mainly through aggressive online involvement of the online techy community).

I have always like the .us extension, especially where geo-domains are concerned. I've developed a few local portals on .us and I like it except for the fact that Google is generally harsh on .us and .info domains.

"More like that please" --> Oh, most definitely. .US keep popping up left and right. I'm quite happy to see dotUS going mainstream. Companies are adopting it because of the natural & automatic affiliation with the United States (US = .US).

As far as more like Purple.US and Chickenfoot.US, I will guarantee many more are in the pipeline. .US is a prime namespace. I'm particularly excited about geodomains in .US as well as other major category leading domains.
